Humanoid Robot Care is an independent UK information and connection resource covering humanoid and companion robots in adult social care and eldercare. It exists because the UK care sector deserves better information than it currently has access to on this topic.
What this site is
Most available information on robots in care falls into one of two categories: vendor marketing material, which overstates what the technology does, or general technology media coverage, which conflates the humanoid robots of near-future speculation with the companion and assistive devices that are actually deployed in UK care settings today.
Neither serves the people who most need honest guidance: care home managers weighing a procurement decision, commissioning officers building a business case, families trying to understand what a robot in their parent's care home actually does, or clinical leads evaluating evidence for their setting.
This site is a straightforward attempt to fill that gap. We publish honest, UK-specific, practical information about what robot technology is doing in care settings, what the evidence does and does not show, and how to evaluate it responsibly.
Editorial stance
We will not overstate what robots can do for vulnerable older people. This is not a commercial constraint; it is an ethical one. In a sector that serves people at their most dependent, accurate information matters. A care home that deploys a companion robot on the basis of inflated claims and finds residents confused or distressed has not been well served by the people who sold or promoted that technology.
We are not a vendor marketing site. We do not take commercial positions on which technology a care home should deploy. Where we cover specific products or providers, we aim to describe accurately what they do based on documented, attributable evidence, and we say clearly when we have not been able to verify claims independently.
We distinguish consistently between full ambulatory humanoid robots and the companion and communication devices that are actually deployed in UK care settings today. These are substantially different things, and conflating them misleads people who need to make real decisions.
Independence and commercial relationships
Humanoid Robot Care is an editorially independent platform. Our editorial content is not influenced by commercial relationships.
In time, we expect to generate revenue through provider directory listings, qualified lead referrals, and advisory services for care organisations. Any such commercial content will be clearly and prominently labelled. A provider paying for a listing does not influence how we cover their technology in editorial content. We will not refer readers to providers we have not assessed as operating legitimately in the UK care market.
We do not currently carry advertising. If we introduce advertising in the future, it will be relevant to the care and technology sector and will not appear alongside editorial content in a way that blurs the distinction between the two.
Where the market is today
The UK care robotics market is early. Most deployments reported to date are small pilots. Full humanoid robots are not deployed in UK care settings at scale. The companion and communication devices in active UK use represent a real and growing category, but the evidence base for their outcomes in care settings is still developing.
We are building this resource now because good independent information takes time to develop, and the workforce and demographic pressures facing UK social care mean this market will grow. The gap between what technology vendors promise and what the evidence supports is currently wide. We want to be the trusted, accurate source when that gap begins to close.
Anyone who encounters this site in its early months should expect a growing resource, not a completed one. We will add guides, provider coverage, and structured information as the market develops and as we are able to verify information to the standard we require.
